Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

What are my rights?

My brother died in Texas in Dec 08, and we just recently got a copy of the will. His will states that his ''son & daughter'' will execute and receive home and personal effects. Son & daughter are step children and were not raised in the home. I live in OK where the 3 of us (brother, sister & I) inherited land from my mother. Neither my sister or I were mentioned in the will but he had stated several times that family would get family heirlooms back when he died. There is no mention of the land is in the will - how do we settle the real estate (land), and do we have any claim to family heirlooms? I want to be as fair as possible, but also don't want to hand over control of property that has been in the family for close to 100 yrs. Is it time to consult an attorny or should I try to resolve this with them first?

Re: What are my rights?

Think you better take a copy of the Will and at least talk to a good probate attorney.
