Legal Question in Civil Litigation in United States

My husband and I have been living seperate and apart for 14 years. Can we just appear at the courthouse with proof of that fact to obtain a divorce?

In order to get a divorce, you will need to properly file paperwork/Pleadings with the appropriate court, etc. You cannot just show up in court to get the divorce even if both you and your husband agrees to get a divorce. Plus, the court set a time for the court date as well. If I can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me.

In responding to your question in this matter, the Firm is not expressing an opinion on whether you will ultimately prevail if legal action is pursued. You should not refrain from seeking legal assistance from another firm if you desire another opinion. Because time is always important, and could be critically short in your case, you may wish to seek another opinion as soon as possible.
