Legal Question in Intellectual Property in United States
Is it illegal to copy articles from other websites to your website if you write the address of the website that you got the article from?

In most cases it would constitute copyright infringement unless it falls within a few narrow categories of fair use or other exceptions, as defined under the United States Copyright Act.
As a franchise attorney I can say you need to get permission to copy someone's article or you can be liable for copyright infringement. Quoting a few lines of an article may fall under the fair use exception, but you need to get legal advice before doing anything. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
