Legal Question in Disability Law in Utah

University Discrimination against qualified disabled person

Our son was severely discriminated against by a University that would not give him his BA or teaching credential although he complied with all the requirements. He has a 3.8 overall gradepoint average and has required very little accomodation to succeed in his classes. I think we have a very strong case that his rights were trampled because of his disabilities. He was hit by a car as a child. Where might we go to get some legal help with this situation? He is a very deserving young man who they should be touting as a tremendous success despite his disabilities and instead they have turned a deaf ear and have been very cavalier about his situation. He sand bagged at his final step of student teaching and received no help in completing the program. If you can help us at all it would be greatly appreciated. He has been denied the opportunity to make a living in his profession. Thank you in advance.

Re: University Discrimination against qualified disabled person

If he satisfied ALL requirements, they 'can't' refuse a degree. If they say he didn't do everything, but was somehow prevented by failure to accommodate, then you have grounds for a claim. Get a good lawyer and bring a claim. Contact me if interested in doing so.
