Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Virginia

How often can one file bankruptcy?

I filed bankruptcy in 1997 had an accident in 1998. Have been in and out of work since and am totally broke. No income at the moment. Is it possible to file bankruptcy again due to creditors and bills I cannot pay?

Assuming you filed a Chapter 7 in 1997, you cannot file a Chapter 7 again for 6 years from the prior filing date (unless you want to forego a discharge, which defeats the purpose). You can file a Chap. 13 at any time.
