Legal Question in Construction Law in Virginia

I had a contractor leave tools at my house and have been trying to get him to get them for about 2 months. Can I get rid of them or sell them now. I don't want them in my house.

Send the contractor a certified letter(along with a copy regular first class mail) giving him 30 days advance notice from the date of the letter to come and collect his tools or you will have to dispose of them as you see fit.

Then, do just that as circumstances may require.
