Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
Ending a contract
1 year ago I signed a remodeling contract. I was told 3-4 months until completion. 1 year later the project is still under way. I have contacted the state contractor board and was told I have numerous viable reasons to file a complete and begin an investigation. My question is, at what point can I fire the contractor? Can I fire him on the grounds of project abandonment based on the fact that he's not returning calls or working on the site?

Re: Ending a contract
Does the contract state a completion date? Whether you should fire the contractor depends on what you and the contractor have agreed to but generally speaking, yes. Of course you should contact an attorney to advise you properly on your rights under the contract.
