Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I have a creditor for an unsecured debt who wants to sue me. If I lose, on average what would be the legal fees and other costs I might expect to pay, in addition to the $2500 I owe?

It depends on what the contract provides and may depend on how much work the lawyer does. It could be well in excess of the underlying claim if not limited by the contract.
