Homeowner's rights, drug addicted relatives

What rights do homeowners have as far as calling the police to get drug addicted relatives (who reside there) out of the house? Will the homeowners' property be in jeopardy if drug paraphernalia is found? We suspect that drugs are being used in the house while others are away and possibly even while children are present. My grandfather is 75 yrs old and has cancer; something needs to be done but we do not want to jeopardize his well being any further. Can you suggest any options?

The homeowners are free to request at any time that these undesirables vacate the premises by a date certain.

If they fail to do so, the homeowners can then summon the police to have the undesirables removed as trespassers. If drugs belonging to the undesirables are found by law enforcement during the course of removing them from the property, the homeowners should have nothing to fear as long as they are in no way involved in possessing or using this drug contraband.
