I am 17 years old with a 5 month old baby and i am married. i got married at the age of 16 in the state of oklahoma and my husband and i moved to my home state of virginia to live with my aunt. we are currently seperated and we both have jobs. i want to move out of my aunts house and in with my friend as a roommate and she is saying since i am a minor and i am married not emancipated that i cannot leave because i will be getting a divorce and if i leave i will lose my son. is this true? do i have a right to leave?

If you've been lawfully married, then under Virginia law you're likely to be
already considered emancipated, although still a minor (not having yet reached age 18).
Your aunt, like many lay folks who regularly feel free to announce their opinions on a
variety of matters legal, would appear to have no idea what she's talking about (my opinion).
