Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Husband's Divorce Decree

My husband was married to his 1st wife for 4 years when his divorce decree was issued. I am his 2nd wife and we are currently married 8 years. His final decree of divorce had his social security number wrong by one digit. We just had an addendum filed with the correct social security number at the courthouse. Could his ex-wife take advantage of this mistake regarding future benefits such as social security or death benefits? What more do we need to do to tie up any loose ends and protect my entitlement as his current wife?

Re: Husband's Divorce Decree

No, I would very much doubt that such a minor error

on a marriage certificate could be effectively used in the manner you've suggested.

And, consequently, I see no need for either you or your husbnd to do anything other than what you've already described, absent some overt attempt on the part of his former wife to exploit this minor eror to her seeming advantage.
