Power of attorney

Hello,My daughter is in navy she give me power of attorney

to watch my granddaughter,Her boyfriend the father of child

will not let her she will be gone 6mos and he's abusive to her, he's been to jail for beating her my daughter.What legal rights do i have

Re: Power of attorney

Power of attorney cannot bestow custodial or parental rights. Father has parental rights until he is divested of them and may have full custodial rights if a court has never restricted or removed them. As a third party you would have to prove actual harm to the child not to be granted custody or visitation rights if one of the child's parents doesn't agree with your request.

All of your reasons why father doesn't deserve custody would have to be proved of course.
