Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

spousal support

husbands' ex-wife deserted him, she was awarded alimony for 7 years (married only 5) lied in court-said he beat her. She was a heavy methamphetamine user and last Tues. she passed away. We recieved a letter from court saying we still have to pay support and her lawyer is representing her estate. We are currently paying back support because my husband was off work for a while. He also has a workmans comp. case pending where they were told to pay for his medications (migraines from bad accident 10 years ago.) but they still refuse to pay. He has been given the shaft all his life and it needs to stop. The justice system has let him down time and again. Can you help us?

Re: spousal support

Your husband would(obviously) no longer have to pay current support for his now deceased former spouse but whatever arrearges which have accrued for unpaid support in the past would now be owed to the former spouse's estate and which your husband will have to pay.

The workman's compensation is, of course, a whole different issue which requires many more facts to be addressed to an attorney knowledgeable in workman's compensation law and issues.
