Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Unfit Dad

Im 17 and 6 months pregnant. The father has been doing nothing but troublesome things so i was wondering if there was a way i could prove he was an unfit father and should not be allowed in the childs life. I want him to have no rights to the child what so ever. No child support no nothing.

Re: Unfit Dad

It would appear that you would be well advised to get some advice(as well as counseling, perhaps)on this matter before you rush ahead with any decisions related to this issue which at this point would likely be premature and therefore ill-advised.

Re: Unfit Dad

He was good enough to make a baby with just not good enough to raise one? What should we say about your choice to make a baby with such a person? Does that make you less fit?

The reality is that this child deserves two caring loving parents who devote themselves to that child. To the extent this young man does that he deserves to be a father. And this is what is in the child's best interests. To the extent he is worthless, then the court will restrict his access until he is worthy.

My advice is to come to the realization that making a child with this man puts this man in your life for the life of your child. This is something you should try to make work for your child's sake.

Good Luck
