moving expenses

My Dad moved from MT to marry a lady in AL & liquadated his household to do so. Can he get compensation for his losses & moving expenses. He will be filing for divorce in VA. She owns her own home & has been liquidating her deceased husbands assets from self-employment. My Dad owns his own home, but is currently under contract for sale as a result of the move.

Under what legal theory would your father be entitled to recover for his alleged losses incurred as a result of his marrying a lady in Alabama whom(apparently)he now seeks to divorce in the Commonwealth of Virginia?
