Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia
does a american need to be finacialy stable to marry an immagrant?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Any single person of a legal age can marry.
However, if you are marrying an immigrant and presumably will be applying for his or her Green Card (permanent residency in USA), you will need to be his/her Sponsor.
To be a sponsor, your income must be above 125% federal poverty guidelines. If your personal income not sufficient, you can use your other assets or try to find a co-sponsor.
