Only with a reentry permit. Absences from the United States of one year or longer can lead to losing permanent resident status by abandonment.

Yes, provided that you have in your possession the documents required for reentry(Alien Registration Receipt Card if less than a year or Reentry Permit if more than a year).The latter document is valid for two years, may not be extended, and must be used during its designated period of validity.
