Legal Question in Immigration Law in Virginia

Sponsorship for F1 Student

I am a F1 Student and I'm planning to transfer from the community college to a University in the fall to pursue my Bachelor's degree. I will only have half of the needed funds, which means I can only partially self-sponsor myself.

What does an American sponsor need to provide in order to sponsor me? Is there any guide on what sponsorship entails? I have friends who might consider sponsoring me, if I can provide them with good information.

Can load money be used to sponsor me (e.g. if I got a loan here in the US before starting my studies)?

Thanks for your help!

As a foreign student, you can't apply for a Student Loan.

As to a sponsor, they should be able to show that they actually have the money they promise to give you toward the tuition. They can provide any documentary evidence of their assets. If you are already in USA on F1 visa, you will be issued a new I-20, but won't have to apply for an actual visa unless you plan to travel abroad.
