Legal Question in Employment Law in Virginia

Can benefits be changed after you have retired?

After retiring in Aug 2006, my company says that they have paid me 237.00 a month too much and that I owe them almost 2,000. I wouldn't have retired if I'd known that my benefits would be so little. Can they do this?
