Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

I have a question regarding a possible violation of the lease between us (tenants), and our landlord. The lease to our house specifically states that before the landlord can enter the property to do any type of work or inspection, the landlord must provide at least a 24 hour notice to the tenants. Last week, the landlord entered the house we are leasing without any notification to the tenants. While in the house, he found a keg and a keg tap, each of which is a $100 fine under the lease. However, because we were not notified that he would be coming onto the property, can he legally fine us?

He can certainly try and could also try to evict you. If I were you, I'd try to make this right with the landlord and let bygones be bygones as there is fault on both sides. I would not pay any fine and I am not sure difference in having a keg vs. a case of beer, seems a bit silly, unless there is other bad stuff going on there. Good luck.
