Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia
i just recently bought a house in which i moved in on the first of august. i was renting a house and haven't signed a contract in 2 years. the landlord is trying to tell me i owe her rent until april when i gave her about a month and a half notice. How can i get out of the "lease" with her and get my $1,750 deposit back?

Of course, you would owe rent for all periods for which you occupied the rented house. Unfortunately, however, this particular timeframe is not clearly evident from your question.
