Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Virginia

tenant lease

I submitted a letter from my doctor to my apartment manager asking that they provide me with a first floor apartment, or an elevator to my third floor apt. I have debilitating pain using the stairs, and it has adversely affected my social life. I only leave when I absolutely have to. The manager said there are no first floor apartments, no elevator will be installed and the only way I could break my lease is if I were in the military and had to leave for duty. Do I have any legal recourse in this matter?

Re: tenant lease

Probably not, (in my opinion) if you first signed the lease without a provision for this requirement.
