If you are with a person who has a heart attack and you leave without reporting that she has died, have you broken a law? Can you be sued?

Yes, if you knew that such a person had actually died, you would have an obligation to report it to the proper authorities.
Of course, you could be sued, as anyone can be sued for nearly anything these days, but I doubt that you would have much to be concerned about if such came to pass.
