My 17 yr old son got his first speeding ticket 76/55. Will our insurance automatically be notified of the ticket?

No, government agencies/entities such as dmv's or courts do not notify insurance companies regarding these kinds of matters, but the insurer periodically checks on the records of its policy holders and in due course will discover it.
Under no circumstances should your son plead guilty to reckless driving.

Your son is lucky if he did not get charged with a reckless driving! The DMV assigns points for driving violations. There are some things your son may do to help himself.
