Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

I got a summons for expired registration, i completely forgot to renew and was only 10 days expired until i renewed. but now i have this ticket to deal with. What are my options in how to handle this. I want to do the best and cheapest option i can. Probably leaning more to the best side. Should I waive trial and pay online or should i go to court show my documentation and hopefully get it dismissed. I would assume if i went to court i would have to pay court costs. if it wasnt dismissed would have to pay the fine and the court costs. If i waive trial i assume that means i plead guilty what are the downside of that?

Show up in court with a valid registration and the judge will dismiss it leaving you

to pay only the court costs.
