Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

Transfer of Adminstrator

My mother & step-father passed due to a murder-suicide situation. A will was found for her but not for him. I was listed as the executor of her estate if he was deceased within 120 hours of her, which were circumstances

(3 minutes to be exact). My step brother wants me to be the administrator of his father's estate. What must he/I legally do for this to occur? Is there a document that exists for this purpose? All possessions are joint, except for his business which has little to no equity or inventory to speak of.

Re: Transfer of Adminstrator

Check at the Surrogate's Court. There is a small estate administration procedure which is available if the value of the property owned individually, not jointly, is $20,000 or less.

The administration clerk will be very helpful.
