Legal Question in Administrative Law in Washington

Illegally sign as POA with husbands permission

My mother in law is my husbands POA at the moment. My husband is away on business and needs to sign a real estate document. My mother in law is in another state and so she cant sign on his behalf. My husband wants me to sign as his POA which i am not. He says this is okay though as he will not question the signed document. I dont want to get in trouble. Can i sign the document as his POA?

No. Your instincts are right. Don't ever let anyone talk you into fraud.

But, if the real estate itself is in both of your names (you and your husband) you can sign as yourself.

But this is really weird. Why don't they just fax the document to your husband, have him sign it, and fax it back? I've done that a million times, both for court and on real estate documents.
