Bankruptcy Law changed from 7 to 10 years

When President Clinton signed the law into affect changing the amount of time a bankruptcy appears on your credit report, did it only affect filings going forward? Meaning, if someone filed before the law, are they subject to the 7 year credit reporting?

Can't say I know quite what you are refering to ... the Fair Credit Reporting Act (CDRA) limits what can be included in credit reports. Almost nothing over 10 years is fair game. Many things are limted to 7 years. As a practical matter, many credit grantors look even less. I'm not aware of any significant amendments in the Clinton administration, but would have to say that any law you are refering to would apply now - that is: no look back beyond 7 years - as has been the case for years. I assume you had no attorney for your bankruptcy?
