Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Washington
co-signers and bankruptcy
I am trying to move into an apartment and am having quite a few credit issues. If my parents co-sign for me to get the apartment and I declare bankruptcy while I live there (the apartment will not be included as a debt in the bankruptcy, because I will be living there), can the bankruptcy court hold my parents liable for any of my debts because they are current co-signers on my apartment? I am 23 years old and my parents have never co-signed anything with me before.

Re: co-signers and bankruptcy
if your parents co-sign, they are only liable for what they co-sign for ... the answer is no, they won't be on the hook for other bills by helping with the apartment ... good luck
