Legal Question in Business Law in Washington
Not Getting Paid.
I sold $5,000 worth of merchandise to a store chain with an invoice and a purchase order. Everything as represented. They don't want to pay me. What are my options?

Re: Not Getting Paid.
Are they giving a reason why they are not paying you? If they are giving a reason (for example, they claim the product is damaged or delivered late), your rights and the proper response will depend on what that reason is. If they are not giving a reason, or if the reason simply is that they are short of cash now, you can press your claim legally. Under Washington law, if the amount claimed is $10,000 or less, and you prevail in court, you can also collect attorney's fees. You have to let them know up front that you intend to do so.
In any case, they do not simply get to keep the product and not pay you.
