Legal Question in Business Law in Washington

I recently applied for a wholesale account with a major company. They told me that they would have approved my account but they are refusing only because my business services mostly american soldiers. The sales rep that I spoke with was vulgar and expressed her hatred for soldiers several times through out the conversation. Is that legally discrimination?

Unfortunately, the short answer to your question is yes. However, one is not allowed to discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, age, handicap, or sex, under federal law, and under state law, you can add sexual orientation.

However, you can legally discriminate on other grounds, such as status in the military, if one is a smoker, beautiful or ugly, overweight or underweight, Levi's or GAP jeans, etc.
