Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Washington

I with no council or advise plead no contest back in 1996 to a 4th degree DV charge. Unknowningly having my firearms rights permenatly revoked, by the (Lautenberg act) was passed after I was convicted. Can I expunge my record and have them reinstated? Are there certain circumstances that which can enable me to return my rights? This is the only thing on my record and 15 years old with no other charges of any type.

You list an Oregon zip code, but posted under Washington law, so for purposes of this response, I assume you entered your plea in Washington state to a Washington charge.

To answer your first question, no one can guarantee expungement or a pardon, but you can always apply for these forms of relief. The fact that you've led an otherwise model life is good, but you will need to develop a case to convince a court (for expungement) or the pardons and parole board (for a pardon). I suggest you hire counsel to represent you or at least help you put everything together.
