If my bid was less than half of the other bidders, is it the responsibility of the General Contractor to notify me to check the list of items bid on, to make sure nothing was missed in my bid?

Probably not - the responsibility to create an accurate bid is yours.
However, construction law is full of exciting loopholes and facts that can create unknown conditions that obviate bids. The caselaw is certainly there. Don't hesitate to contact me if you want a referral.
