Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Hi, my name is Adrian Maureira and I live in Washington state. My question is about restraining orders. I recently found out that I had a restraining order against my father and was surprised because I have never requested nor wanted a restraining order from my father. I am 21 years old. My sister who is 19, but 18 at date of the restraining order was also surprised about the restraining order. I believe that my mother added our names and either signed for us or it was allowed. My question is that is it illegal to sign for someone who was 18 or older, and what can I do to revoke the restraining order against my father? Does it require my authority to make a restraining order legal or proceed because I am over the age of 18. What steps can I do to fight this and erase this restraining order. My father is a great person and I would never want to put a restraining order against him. My sister and I would like to fight this because we did not feel the need nor want to have a restraining order against our loving father. Thank you
Adrian Maureira

All we need to do is file a motion and proposed order dropping the restraining order with respect to you and your sister, so that only your mother's share of the restraining order would remain in effect.
If you have time, you may be able to do this yourself, and if time is short, you can probably hire an attorney to handle this for you for about 2-3 hours worth of work, including court appearance time.
