Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Dual Names

Hello,

I would like to start using my maiden name, professionally. Is there a way to legally use to separate names - one for family/personal use and one for professional use? Or may I just informally use my maiden name whenever I like? (I legally changed my name when I was married.)

Thank you!

Re: Dual Names

Many women do exactly what you are proposing. However, for legal purposes, you can only have one name and as many aliases as you like. Just remember, when you sign documents or write your name on official papers that are in any way legally binding, you ought to use your legal name (in this case your married name).
