Is there anything that a expecting father can do that is no longer with the expecting mother to guarantee that he is in the baby's llife and has access to the child once the baby is born?

Yes. For purposes of this response, I am going to assume that you are an unmarried couple. If that is the case, if you can hire counsel to help you, do so. Your attorney will want to prepare a summons and petition to establish your paternity and ask for a parenting plan to be entered, along with an order of child support.

The parenting plan will be the mechanism that will give you legal rights to see the child and make decisions that affect the child. This is also the mechanism by which you will be added to the birth certificate.

Included in this process will be a DNA test, if the mother denies that you are the biological father, so be prepared for that as well.
