Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

family law/child support

I dont see my son, and just found out thru the child support office that he did not graduate high school and is re-enrolled for next year (he should have graduated this month). My child support order states support until 18 or graduates. I would like to end child support asap. What is the likelihood of getting this order changed to a fixed time, rather than this vague date. (child support officer states that he could be ''enrolled'' in high school until the age of 21 !!

Re: family law/child support

In theory the child support officer you spoke with is correct. As a practical matter, I think if you tried to modify the child support order to cut off a 20 year old, if you can demonstrate (the key part) that something is amiss, and the system is being gamed, then you may succeed in getting support reduced or eliminated. As a practical matter, given the child support order you currently have, I would not try until your man-child is at least 20.
