Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

I left my husband, but didn't take all my clothes, or our 2 year-old daughter's clothes when we left. I went back to get them about 5 days later, and he has changed the locks on our home. Can he do this? What legal recourse do I have to get back in to get all of my belongings, and those of our child's? He has turned off my cell phone, so other than to go through my mother (which I doubt he will ever do), he has no way of contacting me.

Your best bet is to file for dissolution of marriagesince it appears your marriage is headed there alreadyand at the same time, file for temporary orders that gives you access to the home to retrieve your belongings as well as your child's. Additionally, you will want to file for temporary custody and child support orders, and maybe temporary spousal maintenance.

If you can, get a lawyer to handle this for you, otherwise, you are going to be running around a lot trying to learn what you need to do. It's not worth the monetary savings if you can have an attorney do this for you.
