Moving Out of State With Child

I have soul custody of my 10 year old son. Do I need to file a petition with the court to get permission to move?

Not exactly. You need to provide 60 days notice to your ex-spouse of your intention to move, whereupon the ex-spouse will decide whether to file an objection to your intended move with the court.

I suggest you consult myself or another attorney before proceeding to ensure success in your intended relocation.
