Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

parenting plan contempt

My ex took our daughter to Hawaii on Father's Day 2 years ago. I wasn't able to see her and she wouldn't answer or return my calls so I could talk to her on on Father's Day. Our parenting plan says that I am to have my daughter every Father's Day. Since it's been a couple years, is it too late to file for contempt of the parenting plan?

Re: parenting plan contempt

Technically no, but as a practical matter, I would not represent anyone wanting to bring this claim after 2 years. If your daughter is still underage, and this still rankles you, I'd ask for an extra makeup holiday this year that would otherwise go to your ex, but by sitting on this for two years, I would not even go to court seeking the extra day after two years.
