Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Can someone publish photos of my son without my permission. My ex (who does not have custody, and only supervised visitation) has given to his girlfriend, but I had no idea. The photos are on-line and as a book for sale. What can I do, I am very upset?

Someone can publish photos of your son, but if they are doing so as part of a means to make money off his image, then I'd say you can write to this girlfriend and indicate that you object to use of your son's image without your permission, and that his father's permission alone is insufficient to publish photos for profit. Demand that she either take down the photos, or that you want compensation for the use of the photos (if that is something you'd want).

I probably should have written this first, but if I were you, I would consult an attorney before contacting the girlfriend to make sure you are on solid ground. Myself or any other attorney would have more questions and I know before I were going to write any such letter, I'd want to know a little more background information about the book and the photos. The last thing you want to do is write her and look like a fool later on.
