Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
revision to alimony
My ex-wife and I have a verbal agreement to reduce (due to the economic changes in our economy) the amount of alimony that I am paying to her and I would like to know is a notorized staatement signed by both parties enough to keep her from being able to legally come back later?

Re: revision to alimony
It might work, but the correct answer is to do an agreed motion and order to amend the portion of the decree that sets spousal maintenance.

It may be enough, but I would not count on it. To be on solid ground, you ought to have the decree of dissolution modified with a subsequent agreed order spelling out the terms of the new maintenance.
