Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

My car was totaled by a drunk driver who was not insured. Luckily, no one was injured. He hit four parked cars in all. The police detained him after he attempted to stumble away. I am assuming he's not very financially stable, so I'm curious if it's worth the effort to pursue legal action against him.

I would say yes, depending on the financial extent of the damage he caused that you are trying to recover. It may be prudent to at least see what he is worth financially before deciding to give up. Drunks come in all shades, and appearances can be deceiving when it comes to determining wealth.
