Legal Question in Immigration Law in Washington

Deportation to Syria

My fiance is from Jordan and has been residing in the U.S. for 13 years. Three years ago he was incarsinated and was sent to the Immigration in Seattle Wa. Jordan did not want him so he was released in August 2003. My fiance was financially stable, rented a place of residence and was forseeing marriage with myself, an American citizen. On April 16, 2004 INS said they recieved paperwork for deportation to Syria in late May. He is now held in custody and utterly shocked. My fiance is not from Syria. There is no logical reason to deport him. They will be breaking up our future together. Is there anything we or you can do? Were desperate!

Re: Deportation to Syria

From what you have said, you are correct that your fiance is in trouble. I strongly suggest that you either call myself or another immigration attorney who can help you through this. Before anyone can really give you an idea of what's going they are going to need more facts or to see the paperwork in the case. For example, why Syria? There must be something in the removal papers that indicates that the US government believes your fiance is a Syrian citizen. No matter what, this is something that you are definitely going to need an attorney to handle.
