You are very much deportable but you need to fix this issue once and for all that way you can take citizenship some day. You are eligible for 212 (c) waiver since the crime was committed before 1997. Please contact me for more details..we can help you.

I see you are getting responses. I don't necessarily agree that you are deportable. A person can be deportable for most felonies and even some misdemeanors, but it really depends on what the crime was, EXACTLY, and what your sentence was. Renewing green cards is NOT a process where a criminal check is done. You could be safe to do that. OR -- you might consider whether you are even eligible for citizenship. Yesterday morning, my client who had a felony conviction [for theft/robbery] that was 13 years old, was approved for citizenship. You should check this out carefully. Go and see someone who is an immigration law specialist. You will be glad you did. I am sure there are many more details than you listed that would need to be looked at before anyone could really advise you what to do. Good luck.

You are correct that you are subject to deportation or removal based upon a felony conviction. There are ways to avoid removal from the United States, but I would need more facts, such as what you were ultimately convicted of, versus what you were charged with. Please call me and I would be happy to give you a free consultation.
