Legal Question in Insurance Law in Washington
Car Accident - Uninsured Motorist
I was involved in an accident in August 2006, where the person who ran into me left the scene. My insurance company has been covering medical expenses under my Under-insured Motorist policy.
I was unable to get to my dr appointments during the month of December - because I was evicted from my home and had to move, etc. I have been trying to get my life back in order and have been going to my appointments since January - Now my Insurance co is requiring that I go to thier Independent Medical Examiner - because of the lapse in treatment.
Are they going to try to stop my claim? What can I do to protect myself?
I suffered injuries to my lower back and neck - and am in pain all the time.

Your insurance company is likely entitled to ask you to attend an IME pursuant to your policy. However, there are certain steps that can be taken to maximize the chance that the IME will be conducted appropriately. Please feel free to contact me to discuss. We'd be happy to help you.
