Legal Question in Insurance Law in Washington
Car accident victim can't get insurance info on at fault driver
I recently was in a car accident where I was severely rear-ended by a young man in a SUV on the freeway coming home from work. My little car seems to be totaled and was towed away at the scene to an impound lot where it is now still sitting collecting fees because I could not get the driver's insurance info at the time as he was really upset and wouldn't give it to me. I did not have insurance on my car at the time of the accident. I have also had to rent a car that Budget is calling me everyday about to give them the guy's insurnace info on. I've called the cop who took the report but he is on vacation and not returning my calls. I have the license plate number of the guy who hit me but don't know what I can do with that. I also had to go to the emergency room the day after the accident as my throat area was really hurting from the airbags and my back is also hurting now. Tomorrow will be a week now that my car has been in this impound lot and it's going to cost an arm and a leg to get it out by paying for it myself as well as the medical bills and the rental car. Can someone please advise me on how to get this driver's insurance info so I can charge all this money he is costing me to his insurance company.

At-fault drivers' insurance carriers have a duty to act promptly in connection with property damage claims. While it does not have a direct obligation to pay for your medical expenses, there are options available to you. Please feel free to contact me. Thank you very much.
