Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington
My Employer is SUPPOSED to pay us on the 5th and the 20th of the month but every payday it's been getting harder and harder to get him to pay us. If we DO get a check, there is no money in the bank to cash it and now he won't even give us checks. I have not been paid yet and it is the 28th of the month. He has made me late to pay my student loan too. I have rent coming up and no money to pay it. I am the bookkeeper and I have seen that he is known to screw people over badly and doesn't care because he knows they can't collect from him and if it does go to court it will take them years to get the money. I have PROOF of him spending over $41,000 on things that had nothing to do with the business but using the company funds (while not paying his employees). What can I do besides quit and never get my money he owes me? If I quit it looks bad on my resume. I am feeling screwed here bad!!!! Help me PLEASE???
Sincerely,
Celeste Larson

It appears that you have sufficient evidence to make a claim for the 100% penalty that the law allows for the amount of wages that you have not been paid as well for the wages. The same law requires the employer to pay your attorney fees for a successful legal claim for unpaid wages. If you wish a no-charge consultation to evaluate your claim further, please contact me at (206)624-6761. I hve been handling these types of cases for over 30 years.
