Re: landord
You pose an interesting question, which I have never dealt with, but suffice it to say, here is what I would recommend. Before I give my recommendation, keep in mind, I also think that there are several ways to handle your case, and which method to use depends on your landlords, and how you get along with them, especially when they are not in the throws of what sounds like an emotional and heated divorce.
As for your solutions, I suggest that you write them a letter, and mail it to each one of them, by Certified Mail, Return Receipt, so that you can prove you sent this to them. You should also e-mail it to them, if you have their e-mail addresses. In any case, the letter should spell out that your electricity is going to get cut off because they have not paid the bill.
Remind them, that while you are sympathetic to their plight, you cannot be caught in the middle. If they do not figure out how to pay your utilities, which they are apparently obligated to do under your lease, then remind them that you may have no other choice but to enforce the terms of your lease by going to court.
As for the rent payment, you can also suggest that on odd numbered months, you pay spouse x, and on even numbered months, you pay spouse y. Alternatively, you could just pay each 50%.
If none of this works, then you should start looking for an attorney to help you out.
