Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Washington
Past Child Molestation
In light of the many child molestation incidents that have recently come to light, would I be able to file a claim of this nature even if the multiple incidents happened some 34 years ago when I was a high school student in a public school in the south Seattle area? I know that there were others who were abused at the same time as there were jokes among my friends at the time, but everyone was too scared to say anything about it.
I know it has been a long time since then, but it would be nice to no longer have to carry that baggage around and I have always felt guilty since I know that this teacher was doing this with other students besides me as well, and if I had spoken up then, he would perhaps have been stopped.
Thank you

Re: Past Child Molestation
I can't answer the question based on the facts you have given me. There are such things as statutes of limitations that bar old claims, but on the other hand, there are ways around them. I recommend that you call attorney Jo-Hanna Read, of Seattle, or David Summers, also of Seattle. Please e-mail me directly if you can't find the phone numbers. They both handle this kind of case, and can give you a better sense of whether it is worth pursuing.
I am so sorry to hear of your misfortune, even if it is from long ago. Such things give us a lot of mental distress and strong but confused feelings that take a lot of work to be comfortable with. Good luck with this
